The best Kixie alternative for a small team depends on how many people will dial:
- 1 or 2 reps: Close Growth if you also need a CRM, or CloudTalk Essential with its Power Dialer add-on if you already have one.
- 3 reps: Aircall Professional, or CloudTalk Essential with the same add-on.
- Reps doing heavy single-line volume, at any team size: PhoneBurner.
Kixie does not print a number to compare against. Its pricing page shows three tiers (Professional, plus single-line and multi-line dialing plans) and a 7-day free trial with no credit card, but no dollar prices. All six rivals below publish their prices, and the table shows the seat minimums and add-ons that change the real bill.
I book meetings through cold email and LinkedIn, so I have no phone results of my own. Every number below comes from a vendor's pricing page or a regulator's rule text. For how to run the calls themselves, see how to make a cold call.
Do you need a dialer before you have a warm list?
A dialer makes calls cheaper to place. It does nothing about who is willing to pick up.
By the time a buyer agrees to talk, most of the deciding has already happened online, on your LinkedIn page, your site and your case studies. In my own work the order never changes: conversations first, then calls, then clients.
If your team closes a small share of today's warm calls, colder dialer calls will close an even smaller share, because the new people know you less and doubt you more. Buying a hundred more calls to dodge a sales problem ends badly.
Decision rule: count the people who replied, engaged or opted in this month before you count dialer seats. If one rep can work through that list by hand, skip the dialer seat. A click-to-call softphone inside your CRM handles those warm calls. A calendar link often turns a warm reply into a meeting without a call; see turning a positive reply into a booked call.
How much do Kixie alternatives cost per seat in 2026?
All prices below come from each vendor's own pricing page, at the time of writing. CloudTalk prices in euros. The others price in US dollars.
| Tool | Entry plan for sales calling | Price per seat a month | Seat minimum | Extras that change the bill |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kixie | Single-Line PowerDialer | Not published | Not published | Multi-Line plan dials up to 4 lines; AI Human Voice Detection is a premium add-on |
| CloudTalk | Essential plus Power Dialer add-on | EUR 29 plus EUR 15, billed annually (Essential is EUR 39 billed monthly) | 1 (Expert needs 3) | Parallel Dialer add-on EUR 39 for up to 10 numbers; 11% compliance fee for US and Canada billing, on top of listed prices |
| JustCall | Pro (the cheaper Team plan, $29, lists no power dialer) | $49, billed annually | 2 | SalesPro is quote only and carries a predictive dialer of up to 10 lines; Business plan needs 10 licenses |
| PhoneBurner | Standard | $140 annual or $165 monthly; top plan Premium $183 annual | None stated | Unlimited power dialing on every plan; texting only on Premium |
| Aircall | Professional | $50 per license, billed annually (the page says annual billing saves 25%) | 3 | Power dialer imports up to 1,000 numbers; Essentials ($30) runs outbound campaigns through AI voice agents only |
| Close | Growth | $99 annual or $109 monthly | None stated | Calls about $0.02 per minute, numbers from about $1 a month; predictive dialer only on Scale at $139 annual |
| Dialpad Sell | Essentials | $39; Advanced $59; Premium $79 | None stated | No power dialer listed on any Sell plan; Advanced adds local presence dialing and voicemail drop; Premium is annual only |
Close charges per minute, so the bill grows with every hour your reps spend on the phone. Dialpad Sell suits a team that wants click-to-call and local presence without a dialer.
Power, parallel or predictive: which rules does each mode hit?
A power dialer rings one number at a time and moves to the next when the rep is free. A parallel or predictive dialer rings several numbers at once and passes the first live answer to a rep. When two people answer together, one of them waits or gets dropped. Regulators count that dropped call.
The FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule compliance guide says abandoned calls often come from predictive dialers.
| Mode | Lines at once | Examples above | Abandonment risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power | One | Close Growth, Aircall Professional, PhoneBurner, CloudTalk Power Dialer, JustCall Pro, Kixie Single-Line | Low, because a rep is on every connect |
| Parallel or multi-line | Several | Kixie Multi-Line, CloudTalk Parallel Dialer | Real, because answered calls can wait for a free rep |
| Predictive | Several | JustCall SalesPro, Close Scale | Real, and the dialer sets the pace |
The FCC dialing rule caps abandoned telemarketing calls at 3% of those answered live, per campaign, over a 30-day window. A call counts as abandoned when no live rep joins before 2 seconds pass after the person finishes saying hello. Unanswered calls must ring for at least 15 seconds or 4 rings before the dialer hangs up.
The FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule builds its safe harbor on the same 3% and 2-second figures and requires the seller to keep records proving it met them.
Decision rule: if you buy parallel or predictive dialing, make the vendor show you per-campaign abandonment reporting and the connect time before you sign. If it cannot show you both, stay on a power dialer. This is not legal advice.
Do B2B calls from a dialer need consent?
Sometimes. Less often than founders fear, but not never. The FTC says the TSR exempts most telemarketing calls made to businesses. The exemption does not cover sellers of nondurable goods like office or cleaning supplies. Software counts as durable, so the exemption can still apply to a software seller.
That exemption covers the FTC rule only. The FCC rule is separate, and it applies regardless of the TSR exemption. Autodialed or prerecorded telemarketing calls to cell lines need the called person's prior express written consent. B2B lists are full of mobile numbers, so tag every number as landline or mobile before it enters a multi-line campaign.
Two more FCC points apply to lists that include home or mobile numbers:
- Solicitation calls to residential subscribers are barred from 9 p.m. until 8 a.m. in the called person's own time zone.
- Honor a stop request in a reasonable period, and no later than 10 business days. You cannot force people to use one exclusive way to revoke consent.
This is not legal advice. For your own campaigns, read the rules and talk to counsel.
Can you send texts from a sales dialer, and what is 10DLC?
Yes, but texting has its own gate. The FCC's consumer guide says commercial texts require written consent. Before you add a texting step to a sequence, check that your opt-in form actually collects written consent.
Carriers add a second gate. In 10DLC, The Campaign Registry verifies brands and campaign service providers before they can send messages. A brand cannot register directly. It must go through a registered provider, so ask your dialer vendor whether it handles registration.
PhoneBurner and Close both require A2P 10DLC registration before you text US numbers. On PhoneBurner, SMS sits on the Premium plan with 1,000 outbound messages a month, and each extra 1,000 costs $15 (at the time of writing). Start the registration before launch week, so approval does not hold up your first text.
Which dialer fits 1, 3 or 10 reps?
| Team size | Best fit | Why | What to skip |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 rep | Close Growth, or CloudTalk Essential with Power Dialer beside an existing CRM | No seat minimum above one, and Close puts the dialer and CRM in one plan | Tools with seat minimums (Aircall, JustCall) |
| Three reps | Aircall Professional, or CloudTalk Essential with Power Dialer | Three seats at annual list price cost $150 a month on Aircall. CloudTalk comes to EUR 132. Neither figure includes a CRM (worked cost below) | Parallel dialing before abandonment reporting exists |
| 10 reps | PhoneBurner for single-line volume; CloudTalk Parallel Dialer or JustCall SalesPro only with live connect inside 2 seconds and abandonment tracking | Unlimited power dialing on every plan, about $1,400 a month for 10 seats at the $140 annual price (at the time of writing); multi-line only once compliance reporting is in place | Predictive dialing that cannot report per campaign |
Here is the worked monthly cost for 3 reps on the three main options, at list prices at the time of writing:
- Aircall Professional, annual: 3 licenses -> $150 a month. You still need a CRM alongside it.
- CloudTalk Essential with the add-on, annual: 3 seats -> EUR 132 a month, or about EUR 147 once a US-billed team pays the 11% fee. You still need a CRM here too.
- Close Growth, annual: 3 seats -> $297 a month. Now add usage. As an example, if each rep talks 2,000 minutes a month, that is 6,000 minutes at about $0.02 -> roughly $120 more, plus a few dollars for numbers.
Close looks like the expensive option until you remember it is also the CRM.
What should a small team check before switching from Kixie?
- Billing commitment. CloudTalk's annual plans run for 12 months and give no refunds or credits for partial months.
- International calls. Aircall prices international outbound on Essentials and Professional by quote only, so ask before you assume UK or European calls are covered.
- Do Not Call freshness. If your list includes personal numbers, the FCC safe harbor depends on a registry copy no more than 31 days old. Ask the vendor how often it refreshes yours.
- CRM sync. Every lead belongs in a CRM, and the dialer should log each call there. If you have no CRM yet, set one up before the first reply, then choose a dialer that syncs with it.
- Trial terms. JustCall gives a 14-day trial and then 30 days to subscribe before it deletes the account. Close gives 14 days with no card and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Prospects do not care which tools you use. Not the dialer. Not the CRM. They notice one thing: whether the person ringing them already talked to them by email or on LinkedIn. No conversation, no call worth taking. So get email running first, with the tools cold email outreach needs, job by job. Then pick the dialer.
Picking a dialer for a small team and unsure you need one yet? Book a call and tell me how many reps will dial. I will say whether I would wait.
Questions about Kixie alternatives
Is there a free Kixie alternative?
The pricing pages above do not advertise a free plan with a dialer, so the free route is a trial. At the time of writing, the cheapest paid calling seats among the pages I checked are Close Solo at $9 a month billed annually ($19 monthly) and Dialpad Connect Standard at $15. Neither includes a power dialer. On Close, the dialer starts at Growth.
Does a US dialer work for prospects in the UK or Europe?
It works, but international minutes are usually outside the bundle. Kixie's unlimited minutes cover calls in the US and Canada only. JustCall's fair usage policy excludes international calls, toll-free and premium-rate numbers from included outbound usage. If your list is mostly European, ask each vendor for a per-minute rate sheet before signing.
Is every call to a business line exempt from the FTC rule?
No. The FTC says a call to a business line that pitches an employee on something for personal use does not get the B2B exemption. The TSR also requires covered sellers to keep records for 2 years, so keep them if any offer could read as a personal purchase.
Does the dialer handle Do Not Call checks for me?
Not always. Kixie, for one, sells DNC compliance as an add-on rather than including it. Whatever the tool does, the obligation stays with you as the caller. Keep your own internal do-not-call list in the CRM so a "stop" survives a change of dialer.
