Is LinkedIn Sales Navigator Worth It for a Small Team

Current prices, what the tool actually does, and the one question that decides it for a two or three person company doing its own outreach.

Want more B2B clients for your business?

We help B2B companies fill their calendar with 10 to 100+ qualified sales calls per month. No paid ads.

Short answer: worth it if a human on your team is doing LinkedIn outreach by hand every week, and a waste if your bottleneck is anywhere else in the funnel.

The prices, checked in September 2026 against LinkedIn's own plan comparison page: Core is US$119.99 a month or US$1,079.88 billed annually. Advanced is US$159.99 a month or US$1,799.88 annually. Advanced Plus is quoted per team and you have to talk to someone. All three tiers include fifty InMail credits a month. Core and Advanced both offer a trial if you have no current paid LinkedIn subscription and have not taken one in the past year. Prices vary by region and exclude tax, and they move, so check the page rather than this paragraph.

That is the part every review covers. The part they skip is that the number is small enough to be the wrong thing to argue about.

The question that actually decides it

A seat costs roughly what one good lunch meeting costs. Nobody's outbound program has ever failed because of that line item. What fails is capacity, and Sales Navigator only helps with one specific kind of capacity problem.

So ask this instead: when you sit down to do outreach, what runs out first, people to contact or hours to contact them?

If you run out of people, the tool is a real fix. Its search is genuinely better than the free one, saved searches and lead lists keep your targeting stable week to week, and the alerts tell you when someone changes job, which is the single most reliable reason to reopen a conversation.

If you run out of hours, buying it changes nothing. You will have a longer list of people you still do not have time to message, and you will have paid monthly for the privilege.

Most small teams I talk to are in the second category and believe they are in the first.

    The three real options

Option one: one Sales Navigator seat, worked by hand. Right for a founder or a single salesperson who is doing LinkedIn outreach personally, a few dozen contacts a week, choosing each one. The precision is worth paying for because the volume is low enough that every contact matters. This is also the only option where the fifty InMail credits mean anything.

Option two: a data platform, and email as the main channel. Right when the plan is to reach thousands of people a month rather than dozens. Sales Navigator is a search and browsing tool. It does not hand you verified email addresses, it does not bulk export, and building a large list through it is slow and against the spirit of how it is meant to be used. For list building at scale, a proper data source beats it, and I have written the build procedure in how to build a B2B lead list worth sending to.

Option three: neither, for now. Right more often than anyone selling software will admit. If your profile still reads like a CV, if you have no clear entry offer, if nobody on the team has time to send messages this month, a better search tool changes none of that. Fix the thing the buyer will actually look at first. That is the argument in turning your profile into a sales page.

A perfect list of fifty is still a coin flip

Here is the position underneath all of this, and it is the one that gets me the most argument.

A better search tool makes your fifty contacts a month better chosen. It does not make fifty a month enough. At that count, one prospect going on holiday is a bad month, and you have no way to read the result. Zero replies out of fifty could mean the offer is wrong, or it could mean the fifty had a busy month. You cannot tell, so you guess, and then you rewrite the email based on the guess.

That is the trap with precision tools. They make the small number feel deliberate. Every contact is defensible, every filter is justified, and the whole thing still turns on timing you cannot see, which only a bigger count can absorb.

My working number for a first list is at least twenty thousand contacts, which no amount of Sales Navigator browsing is going to produce.

Buy it for a person, not for a pipeline

Buy one seat if a specific named person is going to open it three times a week and work it. Take the trial first and see whether they actually do.

Do not buy it because your pipeline is thin. A thin pipeline is a capacity problem or a positioning problem, and both of those cost more than a hundred and twenty dollars a month to solve.

And if you are still deciding which market you are searching for in the first place, the tool is premature. That decision comes first, and it is the one worth the most to get right. I have laid out how I make it in how to pick a market.

One test before you enter a card. Open the free LinkedIn search, build the tightest list you can with it, and try to work through it for two weeks. If you get to the end and want more precision, buy the seat that day. If you do not get to the end, you already have your answer.
