UK social media marketing agency: 714 sales calls in 12 months

Updated

A social media marketing agency in the UK booked 714 sales calls in 12 months with Smirnov Consulting Group. Calls grew from 44 in the first month to 68 in the third. We ran LinkedIn outreach with warm emails and separate cold email campaigns across 3 niches, on several accounts at once.

The agency was not in conversations with the right people

The agency's problem was upstream of sales. It lacked relevant connections and real conversations with high-quality leads. Without those conversations, new business came in unevenly, and there was nothing steady to plan around.

We fixed the profiles first, then scaled across accounts

The work, in order:

  1. Optimised the LinkedIn profiles and email signatures of everyone sending, before launch. A prospect who gets a message checks the sender, and the signature is part of that check.
  2. Chose 3 niches to target.
  3. Built the lists with Sales Navigator, Apollo and Uplead.
  4. Ran LinkedIn outreach with warm emails. A warm email is a follow-up sent after the first LinkedIn touch, so it is never the first time the prospect sees the name.
  5. Ran separate cold email campaigns.
  6. Wrote 2 or 3 multi-channel scenarios, each 5 to 7 steps long.
  7. Scaled horizontally: several LinkedIn and email accounts ran in parallel, instead of one account sending more.
  8. Posted branded content on LinkedIn to support the outreach.

1,168 messages, 515 replies

One daily volume table from the campaign shows the kind of response the messages got:

Daily volume tableNumber
Messages sent1,168
Replies received515

A separate chart tracked messages sent against replies through October and November.

Calls grew every month, then reached 714 in the year

PeriodSales calls
Month 144
Month 257
Month 368
12 months total714

The first quarter shows the pattern we want in any campaign. Month 2 beat month 1 and month 3 beat month 2. More volume went behind what the first replies showed was working.

Profiles came before volume, and volume came from more accounts

A social media agency has one extra problem on LinkedIn: its own presence is the portfolio. A prospect who gets a message from a social media agency reads the sender's profile and posts as a sample of the work. That is why profiles, email signatures and branded content came before volume.

The scaling was horizontal. A sequence that worked was copied onto more LinkedIn and email accounts running in parallel. No single inbox got pushed harder.

This is a fit for an agency that already has an offer that sells, clear proof in at least one niche, and a team with time for calls. It is not a fit for an agency that wants to pause outreach when it gets busy. 714 calls in a year only happens when the campaign keeps running.
